The section was inaugurated in June 9, 2012. The section area was designed and fitted with the latest modern equipment, ensuring enhanced security, in accordance with the legislation in force. This fact has made possible, for the first time, the exhibition of exceptional items which are part of the museum thesaurus; these items are illustrating the Danubian communities’ evolution from prehistory to the end of antiquity. There are exhibited: archaeological artefacts from Neolithic (pots and cups from Boian culture, statuettes from Gumelniţa and Hamangia cultures) and, also, numismatic items discovered on Călăraşi County’s territory, such as: the thasian tetr...adrachmas thesaurus from Boşneagu, the Roman republican denarii thesaurus from Jegălia and Bora thesaurus, consisting of gold and silver coins dating from the XVI century.
