The building in Bădăcin, Sălaj county, declared a memorial historical monument in 1991, was started in 1879 by Ioan Maniu, the father of Iuliu Maniu (1873-1953), descendant of Simion Bărnutiu on the paternal line. The memorial house was confiscated by the communists when Iuliu Maniu was arrested in 1947. After the confiscation, the building was transformed into a chemical fertilizer warehouse, then into a mixed household headquarters (in 1960), into a camp for pioneers (in 1971), into a dormitory for children with severe disabilities (in 1982) which led to important transformations compared to the original form as well as major degradation of the building. From 2015 to 20...19, the rehabilitation and restoration of the house took place, on November 12, 2019, the inauguration of the Memorial House of Iuliu Maniu took place.
