The museum was established in the house of Costache Negri’s family, built in early 19th century in the traditional style of the Moldavian homestead. In 1943, the building was listed as historic monument and there was a plan to be arranged as a museum. Due to the events during and after World War II, the museum was opened on the 21st of May 1986. In the seven rooms of the house the visitors can see furniture and decorative art objects from famous European styles, paintings, photographs and documents regarding the life and activity of the writer and revolutionary Costache Negri (1812 - 1876), of his family and collaborators.
