The building is a historic monument dating from the middle of the 18th century and comprises a documentary exhibition dedicated to the Hungarian Romantic poet Petöfi Sándor (1823 - 1849). The museum was organized in the '50s of the 20th century in Coltău castle to celebrate the poet's friendship with count Teleki Sándor and the happy days following the poet's marriage to Szendrey Julia on the 8th of September 1847, that reflected strongly in the work of the great poet.
