The Monastery was founded by Prince Neagoe Basarab (1512 - 1517). The painting of the church, a historical monument, is the work of Dobromir the Painter of Târgovişte. There are also the three wooden churches, wooden crosses, the fresco of Master Manole's legend in "Manole" Hall in the Bishopric Palace, the original iconostasis of the monastery, and rare icons.
